Artist's Comments

A new single, slightly manipulated photo from a shoot with Joy.
The manipulations are: increased contrast, gaussian blurred layer for glow, thresholded layer for painting-like contrast

A thought that has been growing in my mind for quite some time is to donate a substantial piece of the profit I make on my prints (I'm thinking 50%) to certain charities. When I get into a stable financial situation I plan to increase this to a full 100%.

Right now I'm working out the specifics of this and the hardest part will be deciding to which charities the money will go, if you have ideas or know about certain charities which you think most deserve the money notify me.

Check out the high-res version and other works of mine at [link]

A good artist learns the rules and applies them. A great artist learns the rules so he can tell you why he chose to break them.

wow, nice. I like the way the textures on her shirt work well with the textures in the background, and how the soft glow of her face provides a contrast to all that. With some more manipulation this could make one kick-ass grunge piece, or in the other direction, one kick-ass ...well, whatever you call pieces that seem heavenly and soft.

Thanks man, always great to hear from you... I thought it was a great photo and I really wanted to do something with it but in the end I found nothing better than just some slight color/contrast manipulation tricks. Nothing else seemed to work... Although it probably has to be possible to make something really cool and grungy with this, yeah :)
